We all complain about potholes, but each of us can report them online so that they are logged and dealt with by the County Council. It is easy to do. Search for "potholes" on the County Council website and you will be taken straight to how to report one. It is hoped that County will soon have a system that shows all potholes that have already been reported and how they are being dealt with.

Twelve months ago there was a backlog of 9500 potholes in Northumberland, but all of those were repaired before winter set in. A lot however have opened up because of the bad weather and heavy rain, with a 300% rise from January. County have to prioritise according to routes most at risk and the actual location of the pothole.

Potholes of 40mmin a road and 20mm on a pavement will be repaired, although under 40mm can be a problem as there is no material available that sticks well. They can appear very quickly and it is important that they are reported, so they can be recorded and dealt with. Everyone can take a role in keeping on top of them by reporting them promptly.
